LONDON Unlike other euro nations, France doesn t have any plans to significantly reduce its public debt in the near future. But market watchers and economists don t seem bothered.  The second largest euro area economy predicts that its public debt ratio is likely to stand at 117.8% in 2021, and to fall only slightly to 116.3% in 2022. Estimates from Goldman Sachs suggest the French debt pile will remain at the same levels until at least 2024.

During the April 5 search, BCA agent Nicholas Riba seized three items – an alarm clock on a nightstand valued at $49.99, a $5.99 Casio two-way power calculator on a desk, and an Apple iPhone in an office, according to court documents. About 20 other items listed in the search warrant were not found and remain unaccounted for, including batteries, surveillance cameras, computers, software, flash drives, chargers, routers, hard drives, a wi-fi system, a laminator, printers, an Apple TV, and a rifle scope with related eyepieces.

Over a 2½-year period, Richard Wyffels supposedly bought at least $13,000 in items and services that couldn t be accounted for, state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension agent Nicholas Riba wrote in a sworn affidavit accompanying a search warrant. The warrant says investigators have focused on dozens of purchases in locations around Alexandria to illustrate a pattern of use and potential misuse of city funds. Wyffels, 57, has not been charged, but the Star Tribune is naming him because of his status as a former public official. He retired from the position in December.
