MARION - As snow and ice closed schools across Marion County and much of Ohio, Ohio s most famous groundhog declared there would be an early spring during the 41st annual Groundhog Day event at WMRN Studios in Marion.
Radio personality Paul James said it was mostly cloudy in Marion and at 7:40 a.m. Buckeye Chuck did not see his shadow. By legend, that means there will be an early spring.
Spectators weren t allowed to see Buckeye Chuck in person
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, spectators were not allowed to see Buckeye Chuck in person. Instead, the event was livestreamed on the Buckeye Chuck Facebook Page, on the air at 1490 AM and on WMRN-AM’s channel on the iHeartRadio app. Normally 300-plus spectators gather around to watch the prediction.
