Bell County registered a single-day case increase of 123 COVID-19 infections on Wednesday, as the Bell County Public Health District identified four related deaths.
SALADO â Workers at the Bell County Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 office may soon have some more room to move around as commissioners negotiate the purchase of a new building.
In a 5-0 decision last week, the Bell County Commissioners Court unanimously decided to move forward on negotiating the purchase of a new building in Salado. The commissioners approved a budget of no more than $1.65 million for the new building, and a timeline to close on the property for sometime before May 1, 2021.
Commissioners said the building â located at 11057 Event Drive in Salado â would house the offices for JP Precinct 2 as well as the precinctâs constables. It previously was a school for Acton Imprimis, now the Studio Preparatory, located in Austin.
Despite the first 3,900 doses of Pfizerâs COVID-19 vaccine arriving at Baylor Scott & White on Tuesday, the hospital system stressed that residents need to remain vigilant.Â
âThat is something that we do have to stress because the vaccine is just one tool in a tool kit,â said Dr. Stephen Sibbitt, chief medical officer for Baylor Scott & WhiteâTemple region. âWe absolutely endorse the continued use of masks, physical distancing, staying away from crowds and washing your hands.â
But the Bell County Public Health District took that guidance a step further on Wednesday and discouraged non-essential travel, as it identified its 141st COVID-19 related death.
