(ABC 6 News) The owner of The Interchange, a business in Albert Lea, spoke at a rally today at Fountain Lake Park. The rally was scheduled before the owner was arrested for defying the Governor s COVID-19 restrictions. Lisa Hansen, the owner of The Interchange, has since posted bail.
Several state officials joined her at the rally. The event is called Stand for Liberty. Organizers and supporters say they are demanding change. They also say that small businesses shoudl be able to make their own decisions about how they operate. They also believe that the community is upset about lockdowns.

The owner of a wine bar in Albert Lea that stayed open in defiance of Gov. Tim Walz s COVID-19 executive orders was arrested in Iowa. Clear Lake, Iowa, police arrested Melissa Lisa Hanson at 3:20 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, and she was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail, Clear Lake PD told Bring Me The News. She was released hours later after posting bail, J.D. Carlson, director of Albert Lea Public Safety, said.

MASON CITY, Iowa – A woman has been arrested for passing back checks in Mason City.
Samantha Rae Rumbaugh, 31 of Newton, is facing two counts of forgery. Authorities say she cashed a counterfeit check for $876.48 at one Mason City bank on February 16 and tried to cash another counterfeit check for $800 at another Mason City bank on February 17.
Investigators say Rumbaugh presented a photo ID in both instances but on February 17, bank staff had been alerted and did not cash the check. Rumbaugh left the second bank after the check was refused.
Gonzalez is accused of shooting 36-year-old Michael Creviston to death last Wednesday in Mason City. He is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a $1 million cash-only bond.
