ELKTON â Cecil County recently received an award of $448,139 in Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding for the purpose of supporting local partners including victim services, law enforcement and child service agencies according to a recent release from County Executive Danielle Hornberger.
The grant was awarded to Cecil Countyâs Department of Community Servicesâ Community Partnershipâs Division, by the Governorâs Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services (GOCPYVS), and covers retroactive expenses from April 2020 through December 31, 2021, according to the release.
âI applaud the award of this grant to Cecil Countyâs Department of Community Servicesâ Community Partnership Division. In the midst of a pandemic, it is imperative that the County has the ability to support our community partners as they assist children and families during this difficult time,â Hornberger said in a released statement.

An election hotline and email account dedicated to receive complaints of voter intimidation and harassment in Maryland during the 2020 presidential election received few reports.
Capital News Service through a Public Information Act request obtained records of 27 complaints received by the attorney generalâs office reporting incidents of what callers and emailers suspected were some form of voter intimidation or harassment.
Here are a few examples of the messages received:
⢠Flyers warning non-U.S. citizens of the legal penalties of voting in a U.S. election were posted at a Montgomery County high school.
⢠One emailer reported a man in La Plata was âasking everyone who they are voting for and why and trying to intimidate people into voting for Trump.â
ELKTON â A woman and two men remained jailed on Wednesday after discrepancies in the information they provided an investigator during an Elkton-area traffic stop led to a search that yielded nearly a half-ounce each of suspect methamphetamine and marijuana â in addition to heroin and other evidence, according to Cecil County District Court records.
Investigators identified the suspects as Michele L. Dubree, 39; Robert G. Droz, 43; and Joshua C. Willis, 35. Court records indicate that Dubree and Willis live in the 400 block of North Street in Elkton, and Droz resides in Oxford, Pa.
Dfc. Jonathan Douglas of the Cecil County Sheriffâs Office stopped a silver Mitsubishi driven by Willis at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Tuesday on Hilltop Road, near the Blue Ball Road intersection, because the vehicleâs license plate was not illuminated, police said.
