Spring Car Cruise-In & Eats downtown Sturgis on Friday

Spring Car Cruise-In & Eats, set for 4-8 p.m. Friday in Sturgis, features a variety of attractions. Classic vehicles are expected to line U.S. 12 and food vendors will fill Pleasant Street, including On the Roll, Brewhouse Barbecue, Honey Bunnies Catering, Small Town Girl Concessions and fair food served by Ibison Concessions. The appeal extends beyond auto-collectors and food attractions. Acoustic music by Dave Sparrow and Ben Prowett will be featured on street corners. Art Around Town will showcase work by local artists. At 7:30 p.m., Kevin B. Kline will open the Sturges-Young Summer Concert series. There is a $5 cover charge for the performance. Food and beverages of choice are available for purchase. Patrons are asked to take a lawn chair for seating.

Sounds of Spring coming to downtown Sturgis

Sturgis Journal “The Sounds of Spring” takes place 5:30-9 p.m. Friday in downtown Sturgis, with  Sturgis Downtown Development Authority presenting the spring art and music event. Eight music acts are featured: Marjorie Wisler, Sweet Jonny Knox, Showdown, Mariah DeCloedt, Smithhouse, Jacob Heavrin, Joe Rambadt and Karen and Leo. Performers will set up at select shops. An art drawing will take place at Open Door Gallery. Two-dimensional entries are being accepted by residents age 16 and up through 5:30 p.m. April 23, with a limit of two entries per person and an 8-by-10-inch minimum size. A “Mary Poppins” photo booth also will be featured.

Winter Wine Down & Art Auction downtown Sturgis draw a crowd

Downtown Sturgis was uncommonly busy Friday for “Winter Wine Down & Art Auction.” At Open Door Gallery, 26 “Art Around Town” works were on display and up for auction. Marjorie Wisler provided live music for bidders and Scout & Cellar offered wine-tasting. Ryan Conrod, event coordinator at Sturgis Downtown Development Authority, was pleased with the turnout for this second event of 2021.  “More people than we anticipated stopped in at the gallery,” Conrod said. The auction brought $1,200,s shared between Open Door Art Gallery and DDA. Brewhouse Barbecue sold out, and two other food vendors present did well, as did the St. Patrick’s Day dinner served at Sturges-Young Auditorium, Conrod said.
