Restricting people to their houses is not enough to contain Covid-19, warned Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. He ordered the health department to increase vaccination its capacity to 100,000 people a day.
Chairing a meeting of the provincial taskforce on coronavirus, he said mass inoculation was the need of the hour. He directed the health department to increase vaccination capacity to 50,000 jabs a day at the Expo Centre.
Besides, he said mass inoculation centres must be set up in other districts. He directed all Covid vaccination centres in Sindh to remain operational during Eidul Fitr holidays.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed on Monday the provincial health ministry to vaccinate 0.1 million people every day to overcome the surge in Covid-19 infections.
Murad issued the directions while chairing a meeting of the coronavirus task force this afternoon. He also directed to build the capacity of the Expo Centre vaccination unit to administer 50,000 vaccinations on a daily basis.
The meeting was briefed that the highest number of cases in Sindh during the third wave totaled 1,064 on April 29.
Sindh allows businesses to operate on Friday, Saturday
All commercial activities in the province will be suspended from Sunday onwards, says minister Nasir Shah

The Sindh government has announced that all commercial activities across the provinces will be allowed to operate on Friday and Sunday from 6am till 6pm.
In a statement, provincial Information Minister Nasir Shah said that businesses are allowed to operate on May 7 and 8 while ensuring standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued to contain the spread of coronavirus.
However, the minister said from Sunday (May 8) onwards all business activities will remain suspended till May 16 as the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC) has announced nine-day lockdown under the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” strategy. He said a separate notification in this regard will be issued soon.

KARACHI: As the country battles a dangerous third wave of the coronavirus, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced that his government would “intervene” to operationalise the oxygen plants installed at the Pakistan Steel Mill at the cost of Rs1 billion.
“We are passing through a very serious situation; therefore, we have to be prepared to face any emergency,” said CM Murad while speaking to leading doctors at the CM House on Tuesday.
The CM told the health officials that the new wave of has badly affected major cities of Pakistan.
