PM to distribute Nat’l Film Awards 2019 Sunday

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will distribute the prestigious National Film Awards among its recipients on Sunday in 26 categories for the year 2019.
The awards will be handed over at a colourful ceremony to be held at Bangabandhu Inter national Conference Centre (BICC).
The premier will attend the programme virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban.
The Ministry of Information earlier announced names of the recipients of the National Film Awards 2019 to recognise the contributions of artistes to Bangladesh film industry.
The Lifetime Achievement Awards will be given to renowned actors Masud Parvez (Sohel Rana) and Kohinoor Akhter Suchanda for their remarkable contributions to the film industry.
South Asian Feminist Fim Festival Spotlights Success and Tragedy SAFFF 2020
The South Asian Feminist Film Festival (SAFFF 2020), curated and organised by Kriti Film Club in collaboration with Sangat held virtually from November 27 to November 29, screened 29 short and long films, fiction and documentary, focussing on issues related to women across India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Israel, Nepal and Afghanistan.
However, the selection was not confined to women filmmakers alone and a few films directed by men also featured at the festival. Over 20000 hits and almost 4000 people are reported by the organizers who watched the film spread out over the entire day peppered with panel discussions on varied areas of women’s cinema.
Mask: A Short Film Directed By OAS SK Dash Wins Big In National & Intl Film Fests

Bhubaneswar: The Odia short film ‘Mask’ directed by a senior officer of the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) Mr. Sweta Kumar Dash recently won the prestigious International People’s Choice Award at the Quarantine Image Film Festival-2020 in Argentina.
The 7-minute-18-second film revolves around the struggle of a poor boy to sustain a livelihood for his family amid COVID-19 pandemic. The boy did it by selling the hand-made masks prepared by his mother. The film also showed the reluctance of people to purchase them due to the low price. Among 3000 entries, the jury members adjudged ‘Mask’ as the best awareness film on COVID-19. Brilliant acting by Ajay Choudhury, a minor boy hailing from a poor family in Berhampur, also received wide appreciation from the jury members.
