Anguilla under lockdown as the island records new COVID cases

THE VALLEY, Anguilla – Anguilla has implemented new measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, virtually locking down the British Overseas territory as other Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries registered cases of the virus over the past 24 hours.
A joint statement issued by the Governor, Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam, and Premier Dr. Ellis Webster. Noted that there has been speculation about the community spread of the virus on the island.
“It is of critical importance that we as the responsible authorities establish the facts to ensure appropriate measures and a proportionate response,” the said in the statement, acknowledging that up until April 20, the island had recorded 30 confirmed cases with one active imported case.

The 403 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Tuesday, April 20, identified four new COVID-19 positive cases, all women.
There were also 12 recoveries and 83 people remain in isolation.
The total confirmed COVID-19 cases moved to 3 797 (1 848 females and 1 949 males), and 3 704 people recovered. There were 44 deaths from the viral illness.
Since February 2020, the public health laboratory conducted 149 826 tests.
To date, 71 134 vaccinations were administered to 29 353 men and 41 781 women under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. (

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has moved to 3,797 (1,848 females and 1,949 males), and 3,704 people have recovered. Forty-four people have died from COVID-19.
Since February 2020, the public health laboratory has conducted 149,826 tests.

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified nine new COVID-19 positive cases – four females and five males – on Monday, April 19, from the 494 tests conducted.
Meanwhile, 11 people recovered and were discharged. There are now 87 persons in isolation.
Since March 2020, there have been 3,793 confirmed COVID-19 cases (1,844 females and 1,949 males). A total of 3,692 persons have recovered, while 44 people have died from the virus.
The public health laboratory has carried out 149,423 tests from February, last year.
To date, 70,884 vaccinations – 29,244 men and 41,640 women – have been administered as part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. (
