Randy Lyness (R-West Harrison) and Cindy Ziemke (R-Batesville). “Hoosier small businesses, especially those in the hospitality industry, were some of the hardest hit by the pandemic,” said Lyness, vice chair of the House Committee on Employment, Labor and Pensions. “These funds will build on Indiana’s existing efforts to support local small-business owners and entrepreneurs who need it the most.”

Mentor leader looks back at challenging year, lists some big 2021 projects

Mentor experienced several significant developments in 2020, some of which weren’t even related to the coronavirus. City Council President Bruce Landeg listed among the highlights passage of the Lagoons charter change at the polls. Marina improvements may now proceed without waiting for — and relying on — a referendum vote by residents. “Volunteers spearheaded a grassroots and web-page campaign,” he said. “The residents strong affirmation of more than 73 percent voter support for this change was a big accomplishment after several previous efforts.” - Advertisement - Voters also overwhelmingly approved a boardwalk project improving access to the Mentor Marsh State Nature Preserve. But many noteworthy achievements were related to rebounding in the face of the pandemic, Landeg said.
