Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced $3.5 billion in assistance for renters and small businesses experiencing financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

ALBANY, N.Y. – Starting next month, New Yorkers can apply for part of the $3.5 billion in funding available to help renters and small businesses struggling financially in the coronavirus pandemic.
There is $2.7 billion available through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program for tenants who are behind on rent and earn below 80% of the area median income. Applications will be accepted starting June 1.
Those who are unemployed and households below 50% of the area median income will be prioritized for the first 30 days of the program. After the first 30 days, applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, as long as funds remain available.
Overview
The New York State 2021–22 Executive Budget passed in March includes $1 billion in financial relief for small businesses. The funding initiatives include:
$800 million for the Pandemic Small Business Recovery Grant Program,
$25 million for the Restaurant Resiliency Program,
$40 million to Arts & Cultural Organizations,
$100 million NYC Musical and Theatrical Production Tax Credit, and
$35 million Restaurant Return to Work Credit.
The $1 billion Business Pandemic Recovery Initiative is administered by the Empire State Development Corporation (ESD).
Access to these programs is crucial for the 27th District so my office and I have compiled information on each program and will keep you updated as more details and applications are finalized.
