The Red Cross is testing all blood donations for these antibodies. Donors can test positive for these antibodies to the coronavirus, even if they haven t shown symptoms. If tested positive, this plasma can then be used to help current patients fight off the virus through a blood transfusion.Â

Diane Wright, executive director of Montana Red Cross, said they especially need these donations right now. When we have inclement weather like we are having right now across Montana, sometimes our blood supply is impacted, Wright said. So, the blood for need. need for blood is constant. We are asking anybody that is healthy and feeling up for it, to come out to one of our donation centers across the state and donate blood.

MIDDLETOWN The Middletown Health Department is accepting applications for Public Health Block Grant funding for fiscal year 2021-22. Any non-profit social service, or health agency providing services for Middletown city residents is eligible to apply.
Applications can be obtained on the city’s website @ www.middletownct.gov and due no later than 4:30 p.m. March 1.

EAST HAMPTON The East Hampton Arts & Culture Commission is accepting applications from East Hampton High School Juniors and Seniors for a $200 grant to support an annual East Hampton High School Capstone Project.

According to News 10 ABC, The American Red Cross is in desperate need of blood and platelet donations as they enter National Blood Donor Month. As an extra incentive, they have teamed up with the National Football League (NFL) for a donor to win tickets to Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles next year in 2022.
There is also an added incentive for those who donate and don t win the Super Bowl LVI tickets. If you donate blood or platelets through January 20th, you could win the Big Game at Home package that includes a sixty-five inch TV and a five hundred dollar gift card to buy snacks and added fun to your big game party.

Bus shelter dedicated
Members of the Lake Region Rotary Club dedicated the first bus stop shelter along the Lakes Region Explorer Bridgton to Portland bus route on Dec. 4. The shelter, located in front of the Bridgton Community Center, was built by students in Lake Region Vocational Center’s Construction Technology Program and was dedicated to the memory of Rotarian Marlee Turner, who inspired the project. Rotary member Dick Enright worked with the students on the project to produce an attractive, top quality structure. Rotary wants to thank the students and retail partners who offered discounts or donated products: Hancock Lumber, Hayes True Value, Home Depot, and Lowes.
