A fine of 25k to 5 lakh for Operating unregistered drones The Union Civil Aviation Ministry s latest notification on Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Rules, 2021,  specifies the norms for operating UAS or drones and lists the quantum of punishment for unauthorised flying and manufacturing drones which range from Rs 25,000 to Rs 5 lakh. Drone operators who have so far got away with unauthorised flying of drones due to the absence of clearly laid out norm will have to watch out.  Pixabay Commons The new rules state that no unmanned aircraft shall be flown within a distance of 5 km from the perimeter of international airports at Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad and within a distance of 3 km from the perimeter of any civil, private or defence airports.

SpiceJet is planning to further grow its domestic route network in India as it seeks to gain ground on larger rival IndiGo. The growth comes as carriers continue to focus on their home country in the absence of overseas flights, with the ban on scheduled international commercial passenger services to and from India to remain in place until the end of March at the earliest. SpiceJet said the latest expansion forms part of its strategy to boost connectivity between metro and non-metro cities to help meet growing travel demand. Some of the new routes being launched are part of the Indian government’s UDAN scheme, designed to increase regional flying.

The Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Rules, 2021, not only specifies the norms for operating UAS or drones but also lists the quantum of punishment for unauthorised flying and manufacturing drones which range from Rs 25,000 to Rs 5 lakh. “No unmanned aircraft system shall be used or operated or transferred to any other person in India unless it is registered with the Director-General and it has a certificate of conformance issued either by an authorised importer or manufacturer,” the notification states.

Government invites bids for over 390 air routes under fresh UDAN bidding round PTI New Delhi | Updated on March 14, 2021 File photo   -  The Hindu× The Civil Aviation Ministry has invited bids for around 392 routes under the regional air connectivity scheme as part of continuing efforts to improve domestic connectivity as well as make flying more affordable. Under the Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN), which will complete four years this year, as many as 325 routes and 56 airports have been operationalised till now. These include five heliports and two water aerodromes. On the commencement of the Union government s Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (India@75) , around 392 routes have been proposed under UDAN 4.1 bidding process, the ministry said in a release on Sunday.
