Siskiyou County continues to avoid the additional business restrictions that come with the state s regional stay-at-home order. Those restrictions take effect when a certain region has its percentage of ICU beds open and able to take in new patients drop under 15%.
Siskiyou County and 10 others are in the Northern California region. As of Wednesday, it was the only region out of five drawn by the state that had yet to drop under that 15% threshold. State health officials on Wednesday reported that the Bay Area had become the fourth region to slip below 15% ICU availability.

Siskiyou County Public Health says its first shipments of the vaccine are expected to arrive this Monday.
It says Siskiyou County is getting 385 doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
Dignity Health Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta and Fairchild Medical Center will be receiving those doses and are being prioritized for frontline health care workers.
The public health department says it will continue to inform the public of the distribution plan within the county when more information becomes available.

YREKA, Calif. Nearly 400 doses of Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine could arrive in Siskiyou County next week.
Public health officials said on Wednesday, the initial supplies of the vaccine were already being administered in California. Siskiyou County is expecting the delivery of 385 doses of the vaccine on Monday, December 21.
According to Siskiyou County Public Health, Dignity Health and Fairchild Medical Center will be receiving the doses, which will mostly go to frontline healthcare workers who are most at risk of exposure to COVID-19.
“The state will provide a COVID-19 vaccine to everyone in California who needs and requests a vaccination as supplies are available,” Siskiyou County Public Health said, “however this may not happen for several months so in the meantime it is important to continue to use preventative measures to slow the spread of COVID-19.”

YREKA, Calif. Public health officials in Siskiyou County say that they expect to receive the first shipments of a COVID-19 vaccine next week, but this first wave will include a limited amount of doses.
Some California counties including neighboring Shasta County received their first doses earlier this week. Siskiyou County is not expected to receive the vaccine until at least December 21, officials said.
Siskiyou County Public Health announced its eighth death from COVID-19 on Monday, according to a news release.
Citing privacy concerns, the health department didn’t provide any identifying information about the deaths, such as their ages or whether they had any underlying health conditions.
COVID-19 Testing Sites in Siskiyou County include Fairchild Medical Center, Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta, Anav Tribal Health Clinic, Karuk Tribal Health Clinics, Shasta Cascade Health (Dunsmuir Health, McCloud Health, Shasta Valley Health), North Star Naturopathic Medicine, Dr. Michael Z. Staszel, Yreka Immediate Care, and Mountain Valleys Health Centers (Butte Valley, Tulelake, Mount Shasta, Weed).
