McCarthy renews call for Pelosi to remove Swalwell from House Intel, says FBI should brief entire committee

McCarthy renews call for Pelosi to remove Swalwell from House Intel, says FBI should brief entire committee Print this article The top House Republican renewed his call for Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell to be removed from the House Intelligence Committee over his relationship with suspected Chinese spy Christine Fang and said the FBI should give every member of the intelligence committee the same briefing he received Friday. Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, a California Republican, called upon House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to pull Swalwell, a California Democrat, from the sensitive post. He told Maria Bartiromo of Sunday Morning Futures on Fox News that the entire intelligence committee deserved the same FBI briefing about Fang that only he and Pelosi had received, arguing no one could hear the classified details that he had and still think Swalwell should be on the committee, with oversight over the CIA and the intelligence community.

McCarthy: No one could walk out of that room and leave Swalwell on intel

Eric Swalwell shouldn’t even be in Congress, but in the least, he can’t hang with, probably sleep with, a Chinese Communist Party spy for years, and remain on the House Intelligence Committee. That committee is privy to many of our nation’s secrets. We are supposed to ignore the sexy little Chinese girl, who fundraised to get him into higher office, and who planted interns in his office, little Bang Bang or was it, Fang Fang no matter. Let’s see, he had top-secret data, she was a bang-bang spy, and she got him to where he was, a married man with children. Nothing to see here, guys!

US cybersecurity has fallen, and it can t get up

US cybersecurity has fallen, and it can t get up Kevin Carroll © Provided by Washington Examiner Those of at least middle age may remember the television commercials for medical alert devices in which elderly people, lying broken-hipped at the bottom of a set of stairs, wailed, I’ve fallen, and I can’t get up! That is the United States government’s position today, having been ravished by Russian intelligence services after repeatedly getting the same treatment from China’s intel services. Perhaps Iran or North Korea will be next. As has so often happened over past decades, our government may helplessly claim an inability for self-imposed bureaucratic or ersatz “legal” reasons to perform its basic national security functions. But the reality now is that the U.S. would likely lose a military conflict with Russia or China only because of America’s repeatedly demonstrated failure to secure our information systems.

Choose Unity Over Unfounded Accusations

Last week, an Axios report that took a year to complete revealed that China’s Ministry of State Security — its intelligence operation — sent a female spy to the United States to infiltrate the offices of politicians it deemed on the rise. One of those politicians included Tri-Valley Congressman Eric Swalwell. Several Republicans seized on the story. Right-leaning websites reported it. Tucker Carlson, the top-rated host on Fox News Channel, held segments on Swalwell, accusing him of sleeping with Fang, even though the Axios article did not report he did, and no other evidence was presented. U.S. Rep. Doug Collins of Georgia, the Republican ranking member on the Intelligence committee, called Swalwell a risk to national security and demanded his removal from the committee. So did House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and about 15 other Republicans, despite any evidence that Swalwell did anything wrong.

House GOPs Call on Pelosi to Remove Eric Swalwell from Intel Committee

15 Dec 2020 A group of House Republicans called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to remove Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) from the House Intelligence Committee following a report that he was targeted by a suspected Chinese spy in a years-long political intelligence operation. The letter, signed by top Republicans in the House, said: Because of Rep. Swalwell’s position on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, his close interactions with Chinese intelligence services, however unintentional they may be, are an unacceptable national security risk. HPSCI handles some of the most sensitive information our government possesses information critical to our national defense. As such, we urge you to immediately remove Rep. Swalwell from his position on the House Intelligence Committee.
