Foreign brands comprise the largest proportion of those at the consumer goods expo which opened Thursday in Haikou, South China s Hainan Province, showing the potential of the Chinese market and the consumption upgrading trend, Workers Daily reported on Thursday.
Covering 80,000 square meters, the China International Consumer Products Expo will be the largest consumer goods expo in the Asia-Pacific region, the organizers said. The international exhibition area of the expo covers 60,000 square meters and has attracted 648 overseas companies and 1,365 brands from 69 countries and regions.
The inaugural China International Consumer Products Expo, which will be held from May 7 to 10 in Haikou, South China s Hainan province, will serve as a platform of showcasing and trading for world-class boutique brands, welcoming all countries to share the Chinese market for common global prosperity, Economic Daily reported on Thursday.
Foreign-funded enterprises and brands account for the majority at the expo. The international exhibition area of the expo will cover 60,000 square meters, accounting for 75 percent of the total exhibition area, said Shen Danyang, executive vice-governor of Hainan province. With a total exhibition area of 80,000 square meters, the expo is expected to become the largest boutique exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region.

HAIKOU, May 7 (Xinhua) As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage and the world economy drags on, the first China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) marks a major step by China to further open its market and bolster the global economy. The four-day event opened on Thursday in the southern island province of Hainan. It is the first-ever expo focusing on quality consumer goods held by China at the national level. Japanese cosmetics company Shiseido was the first cosmetics company to sign up for the expo. It also participated in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) held in Shanghai in 2019 and 2020, attracted by the world s most promising consumer market.
