Bombing at luxurious Pakistan hotel kills at least 5 1 minute read
Islamabad, Apr 22 (EFE).- At least five people were killed and 15 wounded when a powerful car bomb exploded in the parking area of a luxurious hotel hosting the Chinese ambassador in southwestern Pakistan.
The bombing took place shortly before the arrival of the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, Nong Rong, at Hotel Serena in the southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta Wednesday night.
Quetta police spokesperson Asad Khan told EFE Thursday that the Chinese ambassador was an apparent target of the attack.
“The bomb went off before he (the ambassador) arrived. So he was stopped (from) going there, Khan said.

QUETTA (Pakistan), April 22 At least four people were killed and a dozen others wounded when a bomb exploded at a top hotel hosting the Chinese ambassador in southwestern Pakistan, officials said late yesterday.
The blast took place in the car park of the Serena a luxury hotel chain throughout Pakistan in the city of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province where the military has been fighting a decade-long low level insurgency.

Federal Minister for Defense Production Zubaida Jalal and Iranian Minister for Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Islami inaugurated the Pak-Iran Border Mand Pishin crossing point in Balochistan’s Kech district along the border area of Makran division on Wednesday.
On the occasion, Minister Jalal termed it as a historic day in the 70-year history of Pakistan and especially for the people of Balochistan under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Govt agrees to bridge funding gap of Rs175bln project

ISLAMABAD: The government on Wednesday agreed to bridge the funding gap of an estimated Rs175 billion worth of Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway project ensilaged under public-private partnership mode.
Public Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) took the decision during a meeting presided over by Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar.
âWe authorised the viability gap fund and transaction structure for the Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway project,â Umar wrote on Twitter.
Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway (M-6), , a critical component of China-funded economic corridor, is expected to be 306 kilometers long, six-lane wide, access-controlled motorway, which starts from the end of M-9 that connects Hyderabad to Karachi via the 136km long 6-lane motorway and ends at the beginning of 392km long and 6-lane Sukkur-Multan Motorway (M-5).
