Birth Pangs of the Rajapaksa Satrapy

Parliamentarian S.B. Dissanayake (to Rev. Keppitiyagoda Siriwimala Thero – 4.4.2021) Days after the presidential election of 2010, the Rajapaksa siblings gathered to enjoy an evening of musical extravaganza. Organised by the state-owned ITN and titled Jaya Jayawe (Victory Victorious), the show was billed as a “Musical tribute to the Heroes of the Nation.” The evening began with a lullaby about how “King Mihindu” and his “Chief General Gotabaya” saved Mother Lanka from demons. Song after saccharine song followed, hailing the wisdom and valour the “Heroes of the Nation,” Mahinda Rajapaksa and – to a lesser extent – Gotabaya Rajapaksa. India, China Disengagement at Ladakh: An Unfinished Agenda

The 11th round of India China Corps Commander s meeting has ended with good optics and pleasantly worded PIB release, with no concrete agreement (if any) disseminated so far. This rightful Indian stance is adversely affected by indicators like likelihood of Indian permission to progress 45 Chinese projects and 300 cr

How an India, Iran and Russia partnership can save Afghanistan

How an India, Iran and Russia partnership can save Afghanistan Sat, Apr 17 2021 20:57 IST | 2 Views Afghanistan mellows down to holding inclusive peace talks. Image Source: IANS News New Delhi, April 17: Tired and broken, the United States has announced its unceremonious exit from Afghanistan. The decision, in many ways, is a throwback to a similar moment in recent history-the pullback of the Soviet forces from the strife torn nation after Moscows ill-fated intervention in Afghanistan in 1979. The Soviet Union was then a superpower, although ailing, when it decided to move forces across the Hai ratan bridge now in Uzbekistan, only to face defeat in a country which has been well described as the graveyard of empires .
