Events across Pakistan and China to celebrate 70 years of establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries
An impressive virtual ceremony that was held simultaneously in Islamabad and Beijing marked the commencement of events across Pakistan and China to celebrate 70 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi formally inaugurated the event. Since the beginning of diplomatic ties, Pakistan and China have continued to deepen all-inclusive relations. Both have a glorious past, an all-weather cooperative partnership crafted for a sustainable present and having lived “vicissitudes of times and changes in the international system”, look to a promising future. Their leaders deserve recognition for their invaluable contribution in strengthening bilateral relations and building an exceptionally cooperative friendship.

he News on Sunday (TNS): 2021 marks 70 years of Pakistan-China relations. How do you describe this journey? What has made this relationship work?
Ambassador Nong Rong (ANR): China and Pakistan, connected by mountains and rivers, share the same aspiration for peace and development. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan in 1951, the two countries have gone through 70 years of thick and thin hand in hand. China-Pakistan communications have gone beyond the changes of the times and witnessed the test of the international situation, and can be regarded as a model of peaceful coexistence, mutual trust and cooperation between countries with different social systems and cultural backgrounds.
‘IT exemptions for SEZs preserved by PM’

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Revenues Dr. Waqar Masood said on Friday that the government preserved the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) from the proposed withdrawal of income tax exemptions in order to protect investments, especially in the context of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
“Prime Minister Imran Khan himself preserved exemptions for SEZs, especially for CPEC, as the top guns who are promoting investment argued that if the government breached its commitment to providing tax exemptions on SEZs, it would hurt the investors’ confidence,” the SAPM, Dr. Waqar Masood, said in an interview with The News here at his office on Friday.

Pakistan-China relationship turned into all-weather cooperative partnership: Chen Xiang
