Senedd election: candidates for Penarth and Cardiff South

There are three ways people can vote in the Senedd and Police and Crime Commissioner election: by post, by appointing someone they trust to vote in their place (known as a proxy vote), or in person. The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on April 20; the deadline for a proxy vote is 5pm on April 27. For those who choose to vote in person, polling stations will be open on May 6. People voting in person are asked to bring their own pen or pencil, wear a face covering, clean hands when entering and leaving the station, and keep a safe distance from other voters.

Nine candidates are vying for the position of Greater Manchester Mayor, a ‘seat’ which is currently taken by Andy Burnham, who will be fighting to hold on to it for another term. Greater Manchester Combined Authority ­ which is headed by the Metro Mayor ­ released the list today. The candidates are Nick Buckley for Reform UK; Andy Burnham for Labour and Co-operative Party, Kathryn Evans for the Conservatives, Jonathan Farmer, Independent, Jane Horrocks for the Green Party, Edward Lepori for the Lib-Dems, Alec Marvel, Stephen Morris for the English Democrats and John Sutcliffe.

Labour and Conservative Party visit Hartlepool, as election race ramps up

Anneliese Dodds met Dr Paul Williams at Liberty Steel in the town. While there they toured the steel mill and met with workers there. After the visit, Ms Dodds said: I ve wanted to visit for some time. It was really fantastic to see the technology in action - it s critical for the UK s future, including Hartlepool. What really matters to me - I know Paul Williams has been speaking to a lot of people in Hartlepool - the healthcare system, people are wanting to have that conversation with the Labour party. Now think we can have a better connection with someone on the frontline. The choice at this election is someone like Paul Williams backing our key workers, compared to the Conservatives pay cut, we ve got to get that message across, and I ve got to be here in Hartlepool to play my part in that.

Nominations are in for Cambridgeshire County Council elections and names will be officially announced today  | Updated: 11:14, 09 April 2021 Candidates vying for your votes next month in the local elections will be announced later this afternoon (Friday). While the exact details of who is standing have yet to be disclosed reports suggest that this year s vote for new county councillors will see a bumper crop of candidates. All three of the major parties are expected to fight all nine seats available for our area on Cambridgeshire County Council with the Green party confirming they will be fighting many of them too including in Chatteris, March and Whittlesey.
