Parma Heights Mayor Byrne announces he won’t seek re-election

PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio After nearly a quarter of a century in public service for Parma Heights, Mayor Michael P. Byrne announced Thursday (May 6) that he won’t seek a fourth term as city leader.
“After months of private thought and discussions with my family, I’ve decided not to seek re-election this fall,” Byrne said in a statement to cleveland.com.
“It’s been my privilege to serve this truly special community through both the good and the challenging times.
“I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge and to thank the members of my administration, city employees, City Council and, of course, the residents of Parma Heights for their confidence and unwavering support throughout my almost 12 years in office.”

SOLON, Ohio – Converting some sidewalks into multi-use paths, creating bicycle boulevards on key residential streets and adding multi-use trails on vacant land are some of the key recommendations of the Solon Connects plan.
Michael Mears, senior planner and project leader for the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission, discussed these recommendations at a virtual town hall meeting to update the community on the plan Thursday (April 15). The meeting originated from City Hall and was live-streamed on the city’s YouTube channel.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH Cleveland Heights lost 3 percent of its population between 2014 and 2019, according to a new report by the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission.
The county released the Our Communities: The 2021 Data Book, last week. The report contains demographic, economic, housing, land use and transportation data for every city in Cuyahoga County, including Cleveland Heights. In the second iteration of the Data Book, we have updated our metrics with the most timely data available and expanded the number of data sets we are tracking for our communities, said Mary Cierebiej, executive director of the planning commission. Our goal is to provide an up-to-date, easily understandable tool for use by our communities and residents; producing this report each year offers that service to our County.
