ICPC Arraigns Two Ex-Governing Council Members of FUDMA for Alleged Fraud

Adedayo Akinwale in Abuja The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned two former Governing Council members of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma. Emmanuel Omah and Muhammad Jibrin are in court for allegedly receiving N2 million kickbacks from a contractor handling projects in the university. The anti-graft agency also arraigned the contractor, Mr. Sunday Efeoluwa, for allegedly paying bribes to the two former council members to influence the award of a contract to his company, Goldmark Concept Limited, before Justice Abbas Bawule of the Katsina State High Court. The commission preferred a nine-count charge bordering on bribery and gratification contrary to Section 10 (a) (i) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000, punishable under Section 10 (a) (ii) of the same Act against the three accused persons.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has arraigned the national coordinator of the Federal Civil Service Staff with Disabilities Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Mr. Illiasu Olanrewaju Abdulrauf, for alleged fraud to the tune of N359,710,000. Abdulrauf was brought before Justice O.A. Musa, of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Bwari, on a 17-count charge bordering on advance fee fraud and other related offences which contravene Section 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, 2010 punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act. Vanguard News Nigeria loses $10bn to illicit financial flows ― ICPC On ICPC Chairman, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says Nigeria accounts for 20 per cent or 10 billion dollars (N3.8 trillion) of the estimated 50 billion dollars that Africa loses to Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs). Chairman of ICPC, Professor Bolaji Owasanoye, said this during a virtual meeting to review a report on IFFs in relation to tax, Mrs Azuka Ogugua, spokesperson for ICPC, said in a statement released in Abuja on Friday. The ICPC Chairman said, “the African Union Illicit Financial Flow Report estimated that Africa is losing nearly 50 billion dollars through profit shifting by multinational corporations and about 20 per cent of this figure is from Nigeria alone.”
