A state of Peace (SOP) Report carried out by Peace Pro Nigeria has affirmed that peace and security are under threat in all 36 states of the federation and Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Report identified threat to peace and security to include communal clashes, land grabbing, humanitarian/ environmental/political and social crisis, banditry, insurgency, conspiracy, killings, lootings, and other forms of criminality.
The Executive Director, Peace Pro, Hamzat Abdulrazaq, said the Report classified Katsina and Zamfara states as epic centres of banditry, noting that banditry had risen to insurgency. He stressed the need for government to pay more attention to it like Boko Haram in the Northeast.
Benue Governor, Ortom tests positive for COVID-19

Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has tested positive for COVID-19.
This is coming after test results of most of the Governor’s close aides returned positive in the last few weeks.
Though the Governor is asymptomatic, he has commenced COVID-19 treatment as prescribed by medical personnel.
Ortom confirmed this in a statement sent to DAILY POST by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase.
The Governor advised those who had come in contact with him in the last couple of days to go for COVID-19 test.
He stressed that it is equally important that those who came in contact with other persons who have tested positive for the virus should go for test to ascertain their COVID-19 status.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Hameed Ali made this known during an interview with newsmen on Tuesday.
Ali said that the service is expecting an official communication from the Finance Ministry on the matter.
According to him, the vehicle tariff reduction is contained in the 2020 Finance Act and initiated by the NCS to ease the cost of transportation in Nigeria.
“I have been torn apart by many people criticizing the new tariff, saying I used my connection to get it done but this is in the interest of Nigeria.
“However, it is now a law and we are only waiting for the finance minister to give us a formal conveyance of that Act.

The General Manager of Adapalm Industry Nigeria Ltd in Imo State, Dr. Goddy Esom Obodo, has clarified the recent explosion at the company which was rumoured to have left many workers dead and scores wounded.
The GM while entertaining questions from DAILY POST on Tuesday, said that many people had cashed in on the incident to drag his management to the mud.
He explained that only one person died during the explosion contrary to the news making the rounds that over seven persons died.
“Expectedly, some people are fond of making a mountain out of a mole hill. You should know that there are people who are not happy that I’m here.
Akwa Ibom govt begins aggressive implementation of COVID-19 protocols in hotels, others

Akwa Ibom State Government said it has commenced the documentation of all the tourist centres as well as hotels in the State to curtail the spread of coronavirus in the hospitality firms.
The Chairman of Akwa Ibom Hotels Management and Tourism Board, Mr Akpabio who disclosed this on Wednesday in an interview with journalists said over 1000 tourist centres across the State has so far been registered.
He observed that hotels and other hospitality outfits were critical centres to spread coronavirus and accurate registration would ensure strict monitoring and compliance to COVID-19 protocols by key players in the tourism sector.
