South Sudan: African Development Bank and WHO enhance COVID-19 case management Format ICU beds delivered to the IDU © WHO Juba, South Sudan, 3 April 2021 -The African Development Bank and WHO have delivered essential medical supplies, including intensive care unit (ICU) beds, medicines, lifesaving biomedical equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) to South Sudan’s Ministry of Health in support of the country’s ongoing COVID-19 response. The supplies include12 ICU beds, over 5 000 infection prevention and control items, 20 oxygen concentrators, 71 blood pressure monitoring machines and over 250 boxes of various essential medicines to treat COVID-19 patients across 18 prioritized treatment facilities as well as support home isolation intervention.

Mohammed bin Rashid orders airlift of humanitarian aid supplies to Sudan DUBAI, 1st March, 2021 (WAM) Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has ordered aid flights to transport urgent humanitarian aid and medical supplies from the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Logistics Hub in Dubai to Sudan. Under Sheikh Mohammed’s directives, the International Humanitarian City (IHC) chartered two aircraft to deliver the aid material to Sudan. The immediate supply of life-saving medicines, medical supplies, and technical logistics personnel is critical to support the efforts of WHO and Sudan’s Ministry of Health to deal with the health emergency and escalating crisis in the country. The supplies will alleviate critical shortages of medicines in health facilities and increase access to protective and biomedical equipment required for managing COVID-19.
