Lockdown measures across England have begun to be gradually lifted, as some freedoms are restored to the public.
Normality, however, is a way off. The Prime Minister has suggested that rapid testing or vaccine passports (known officially as Covid “certification”) may be required for audiences, in order to bring back larger events.
A number of pilot events in Liverpool are to run during April and early May, with before-and-after lateral flow tests to gauge the feasibility of large, non-socially-distanced audiences.

Maxwell cited for ‘dirty’ cell
Prison guards say Ghislaine Maxwell has failed to clean her cell, saying that it began to smell and became “increasingly dirty”. Staff at the Brooklyn jail told prosecutors that the former socialite “frequently did not flush her toilet after using it which caused the cell to smell”. Maxwell is awaiting trial on charges that she helped Jeffrey Epstein and enabled him to sexually abuse minors. She has pleaded not guilty.

Islamophobia probe accused of whitewash
An inquiry into Islamophobia in the Conservative party has been accused of ignoring individuals who wanted to submit damning evidence. Baroness Warsi, who was Britain’s first female Muslim Cabinet minister, collated a series of cases to submit to the inquiry but says at least eight complainants received no contact from the panel. The independent probe is set to report next month.

A third coronavirus vaccine is being rolled out in the UK, as investigations continue into a potential association between the Oxford/AstraZeneca jab and a rare form of blood clot.
People in Wales will receive the first doses of the Moderna vaccine on Wednesday.
The UK has bought 17 million doses of that vaccine â enough for 8.5 million people.
Jabs will be given out at West Wales General Hospital in Carmarthen in what has been hailed as âanother key milestoneâ in the fight against coronavirus.
Comedian Tez Ilyas returned to his old school ahead of the release of his new book The Secret Diary of a British Muslim aged 13¾. Tez was back at Witton Park Academy, which features heavily in his debut book that retells his life growing up in nineties Blackburn. Beginning in January 1997 we follow Tez as he deals with school, home life and friendship. An eventful and at times hilarious trip to Pakistan is thrown into the mix too. “The school has changed a lot since I was here, though it still has that familiar feel to it.” said Tez as he stepped back into the building again. “I do still come here to take part in presentation nights.”
