We have the Power finds US has resources and technology to shift away from fossil fuels

The US has the power to meet all of its clean energy needs

NationofChange The stage is set for a rapid transition to renewable energy. But time is of the essence. A new report was released by the Environment America Research & Policy Center and the Frontier Group this week stating the U.S. has the power to move away from fossil fuels and focus on a clean energy system run on renewables.  Coal, oil and gas are responsible for a rapidly warming planet, for hundreds of thousands of deaths in the U.S. each year from air pollution, and for untold environmental damage. A shift to emission-free energy from the wind, sun and other renewable sources can solve many of America’s most pressing environmental and public health challenges, writes the report.

New report: America is on the verge of a renewable future

For Immediate Release Thursday, June 3, 2021 BOSTON America has the capacity to build an energy system around clean, renewable resources, according to a new report released Thursday by Environment America Research & Policy Center and Frontier Group. The study, We Have the Power: Reaching America s potential for clean, renewable energy, finds that America has abundant renewable resources to meet all of its energy needs. “To a visitor from an earlier century, America in 2021 would be unimaginably advanced in all ways but one: We still rely on dirty and dangerous fossil fuels to meet our energy needs,” said Susan Rakov, chair of Environment America’s Clean Energy program. “But it doesn’t have to be that way. This report shows that between the sunshine and the wind, we have the potential to run our society on clean energy, today and in the future.”

The report also gives President Biden “extra credit” for new policies aimed at addressing climate change and conserving our lands and waters. However, most actions remain incomplete.
