Dr. Monk reaping benefits of lifelong learning Jay Hinton Glen Rose Reporter GLEN ROSE When Mallory Daniels Monk graduates Friday from the University of Saint Joseph with a doctor of pharmacy degree, it will be one day after turning 22 and several weeks shy of five years from the time she graduated as the valedictorian of Glen Rose High School. “I don’t know exactly where I thought I would be in five years, but I certainly have been able to accomplish more in this period of time than I ever thought possible,” she said. “I’m really grateful for the opportunities I’ve come across since graduating from high school.”

Retired sailor lifts hospital spirits through music Retired Navy sailor Jonathan Moore is using his passion for music to soothe nerves and lift spirits at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Jonathan was hired by the medical center to perform in their lobby for patients, staff, and family members who might be visiting. He has been with the Medical Center for 15 years now and says his job “does not feel like work.”  Jonathan is under the title of a Music Therapist and believes that music can lift spirits and morale. He has a wide array of tunes he plays from jazz to pop and from classical to current.

More younger patients being treated for COVID-19 at Chesapeake Regional and last updated 2021-04-30 00:06:00-04 CHESAPEAKE, Va - The COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet and around the country, hospitals are seeing an increase in younger COVID-19 patients. Emergency room physician at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center Dr.Lewis Siegel says there s been an uptick in younger patients coming into the emergency room with COVID-19 symptoms. “It is a higher percentage of patients we’re seeing in the younger categories. We’re seeing more of the patients in their 50s, 40s and 30s that are coming in with COVID, Dr. Siegel said.
