Last year saw the brief, but welcome return of ever Irish millenials favourite show, The Den. After an almost 10 year hiatus, Ray D’Arcy returned to our screens amidst the doom and gloom of lockdown with his pals Zig, Zag, and of course Dustin the Turkey.
After the success of their short comeback last year, it seems RTE are set to officially announce that they are coming out of retirement for good and will be back as a regular show rather than just a one-off special.
The news was revealed this weekend by The Irish Sun, according to an RTE source, we could see it back on our screens as early as September.

So he’s arranged for it to get a fresh outing on Friday on the original, BBC version of the Comic Relief telethon. It will be the first time British audiences get to see Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones, as Connell and Marianne, attend confession with Andrew Scott – Fleabag’s hot priest – in all seven minutes of the sketch’s glory. Late Late Toy Show was the most watched programme on Irish television in 2020, while hit drama
Normal People was the most watched show on the RTÉ Player, according to new figures revealing that RTÉ aired 43 of the top 50 TV programmes of the year.
Lockdowns, working from home and remote learning due to the pandemic saw changes in viewing habits, with RTÉ s all-day share of viewing increasing by 7% to 27.2% for all channels, and a share increase of 12% among 15 to 34-year-olds.

Donations from private and corporate donors almost doubled in 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, according to the Community Foundation for Ireland.
The philanthropic foundation, which disburses private donations into grants for charities and community groups, said it had issued more than €15 million in 1,377 grants to community, voluntary and charitable groups this year, averaging just under €11,000.
Viewers of The Late Late Toy Show generated €6.5 million generated for services aimed at children, which the foundation will disburse.
The RTÉ Does Comic Relief TV event in June raised €5.8 million, which was targeted at community groups to increase digital and technology support for frontline work as well as measures to protect against the virus.
