Scott Wigg was arrested last year after his victims came forward to the police in October and was sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court on Wednesday, February 17. He admitted ten sexual offences, including three counts of raping a child, and was given an extended sentence of 21 years, comprising 15 years in custody and six years on licence. He was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Supporters pay for body of selfless stabbing victim to be returned home KIND-HEARTED supporters have raised thousands of pounds to help the family of a young woman transport her body back to her home country. Mary Wells, 21, was found with stab wounds at an address in Laing Road, Colchester, on January 17. The American citizen, who died at the scene, was believed to have travelled to the UK on a six-month visa. An inquest at Chelmsford Coroner’s Court previously heard she had come to see a man she had met online. A fundraising page was set up to help her grieving family with the process of transporting her body home.

A COCAINE dealer who used a fake name and identity documents to try and fool the police has been jailed for more than three and-a-half years. Florjan Hidri used fake documents in the name of Alexandru Buculut after being arrested in Great Baddow in April on suspicion of drugs offences. But Essex Police were able to uncover his lie and prove the documents had been falsely obtained. Hidri, of no fixed address, admitted possession with intent to supply cocaine and cannabis, perverting the course of justice and possession of false documents at Chelmsford Crown Court on Thursday. The 27-year-old was sentenced to three and-a-half years in prison for the drug offences and a further three months for perverting the course of justice.
