How NASA plans to return Martian sample to Earth

As NASA is set to land the Perseverance rover on Mars on Thursday, part of the roverâs mission is to take a sample of Martian soil and return it to Earth someday.
While samples of the Moon have been returned to Earth, a sample of Mars has never been returned.
The rover will land on Mars around 3:55 p.m. ET Thursday. The landing can be viewed on
Returning a sample to Earth could help scientists better determine if life once existed on the red planet.

The space agency’s Perseverance Rover is due to touch down today after making the 293 million mile journey from Earth to Mars. The probe will buzz across the Martian sky at 12,000mph, before slowing itself down by deploying a 70-foot-wide parachute and setting in a crater littered with boulders. If all goes to plan, Perseverance will successfully complete its mission this evening at around 8.43pm, and will soon start work on to determine whether the planet was once habitable.

Wairarapa had three times the amount of rainfall over 24 hours on Tuesday than in the entire month of January, bringing much-needed relief for farmers.
However, it s not meant to last.
MetService meteorologist Andy Best said 41.2mm of rain fell in Masterton from noon Monday to noon Tuesday.
Castlepoint recorded 44mm of rain, while the summit of Remutaka recorded 40mm.

Only 14.6mm of rain was recorded in Masterton for January alone.
The Cabinet held its weekly meeting on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.
It received a briefing from the Minister of Health on the latest Covid-19 related developments and on the ongoing national efforts to contain the spread of the Coronavirus.
Following discussions, the Cabinet agreed to: Authorise the Ministry of Health to sign special agreements with the manufacturers of the Coronavirus vaccines Allocate 100 million US dollars to fund the purchase of laboratories, medicines (other than vaccines) and supplies related to Covid-19
