New Name Proposed for Pennsylvania Milk Marketing Board

The Pennsylvania Milk Marketing Board is backing a bill that would change the agency s name to better reflect its purpose. The Pennsylvania Milk Regulation Board is the name suggested by state Rep. In the dairy industry, marketing is the process of moving milk from farm to processor to end user. The Milk Marketing Board, with three governor-appointed members and a small staff, sets certain prices and premiums for dairy products, and licenses milk dealers and haulers. In other words, the board regulates the marketing of milk but does not do the actual marketing.
