FAIRFIELD Solano County is starting to vaccinate residents who are 65 or older, with a priority toward those individuals with health concerns.
Dr. Bela Matyas, the county public health officer, said the county and its partners have vaccinated about 50,000 individuals.
Others have received vaccine shots at Travis Air Force Base, the prisons in Vacaville, through private state contracts with the hospitals and through state contracts with pharmacies – numbers not available to the Solano County Public Health Division.

FAIRFIELD The Solano County Public Health Division reported 547 new Covid-19 cases since Friday – an average of 182.3 cases over the three days.
“So if this persists going forward,” Dr. Bela Matyas said, “I think it is a real reduction in the intensity of the surge.”
Hospitalizations also were down, listed at 152 Monday. The number was at 160 Friday, the county reported.
Health officials are concerned about Super Bowl parties interrupting the progress.
The case increase took the county total to 27,041.
However, the county reported four more deaths attributed at least in part to Covid-19, taking the total to 115.

Covid-19 turns Solano County life into turbulent virtual reality
FAIRFIELD Solano County residents did have a summertime fair, but not the likes of one that had ever been seen before.
The only event that remotely looked or felt – or smelled – like a traditional fair marvel was the annual, and live, Junior Livestock Show, during which area 4-H, FFA and Grange participants had their animals judged.
The public, however, was not allowed onto the grounds.
