Republican Sen. Ted Cruz also tweeted a picture in which “Mother’s” was erased and replaced by “Birthing People’s”:
Happy Birthing People’s Day! pic.twitter.com/2GbFenjmGr
As a result of the criticism, Snopes readers asked us if this means that Democrats really are attempting to replace “Mother’s Day” with the term “Birthing People’s Day.”
We learned that these claims are false.
The Democratic Party has not announced, revealed, or demonstrated any plans to replace the term “Mother’s Day” with any other phrase. On May 9, 2021, Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi released a statement using only the term “Mother’s Day.” When Bush tweeted using the term “birthing people,” it was in order to be more inclusive of transgender people, including transgender men and gender-nonconforming people who also give birth, she later explained.

Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi fancies herself a true colorblind American, a friend to all oppressed minorities. She’s also a politician, so she reached out and congratulated the “Say Hey” kid, Willie Mays, on his 90th birthday.
The beloved Mays, perhaps the greatest player to ever put on spikes, deserves all the love and approbation sent his way on a very significant birthday. I’m sure Pelosi felt a warm feeling after sending it.
There’s only one small problem. The picture Pelosi sent out to her 7 million followers on Twitter was that of another Hall of Fame Giants great, Willie McCovey.

Elise Stefanik of the North Country has been a key defender of former President Donald Trump, making her a rising star in Republican politics, both nationally and in New York. As a member of the House Intelligence Committee, she dismissed his attempt to withhold military aid to extort election interference from Ukraine. After raising massive sums for her reelection bid in 2020, Stefanik aided Trump s efforts to falsely claim the 2020 presidential election was stolen. Months later, she remains a Trump fan despite his incitement of a violent mob of his supporters to storm the U.S. Capitol in an effort to overturn the election’s result.
