Prime Minister Andrew Holness has revealed that the cost of the merger of the HEART Trust-NTA with the Jamaican Foundation for Lifelong Learning (JFLL), the National Youth Service (NYS) and the Apprenticeship Board is $313.7 million.
The figure includes the cost for the winding up of the other entities – the NYS, JFLL and the Apprenticeship Board.
Holness made the disclosure in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, as he responded to questions from the Opposition spokesman on finance, Julian Robinson.
“Those costs specifically, would be for example redundancies. The secretariat costs would also be included, change management costs, communication costs, job evaluation and labour relations consultancies as well as sensitisation and coordination activities,” Holness explained.
