South Bend man dies in interstate wreck

Police respond to the northbound lanes of Interstate 65 north of Uniontown on Tuesday morning after a single-vehicle wreck was reported.
A South Bend man died in a single-vehicle wreck on Interstate 65 between Uniontown and Seymour.
William A. Dudek, 61, had to be extricated from a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze after it left the roadway, struck a guardrail, became airborne, crossed the northbound lanes and caught fire this morning, according to a news release from Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, public information officer for the Indiana State Police Versailles Post.
Dudek was transported to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, where he succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash, Wheeles said. He was pronounced dead by the Jackson County Coroner’s Office.

JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) - An Ava, Illinois woman was killed in a late night crash in Jackson County on Thursday, December 17.
Emergency crews were called to a single-vehicle crash shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Ava Road, about a half mile north of Winter Texan Lane in rural Ava.
According to a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Cassandra R. Doerner was traveling southbound when her 2017 Infiniti went off of the right side of the road and hit an embankment for a private driveway.

JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) - A missing boaterâs body was recovered from Kinkaid Lake hours after he went fishing alone.
Jackson County Sheriffâs deputies responded to a request for a welfare check on the lake at 5:05 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16.
They said Benjamin A. Sigman, 36, of Freeburg, Ill., went fishing alone early Wednesday morning, failed to return home and was not answering phone calls.
When deputies arrived at the Paul Ice boat launch in rural Murphysboro, they found Sigmanâs truck and boat trailer parked on the boat launch. His boat was not with the trailer.
