Network Norfolk : Pandemic is ideal time to launch church in Thetford

The Norfolk and Norwich Christian community website Pandemic is ideal time to launch Thetford church The young couple behind a new church in Thetford say a pandemic is the ideal time to plant a new congregation as this should be the time that churches are actually made for. Keith Morris reports. Microbiologist Matt (aged 35) and primary school teacher Tor Bush (36) launched Thetford Vineyard Church in the middle of the pandemic last July. They have lived in Thetford since 2007 and the new church was planted from West Suffolk Vineyard Church in Bury St Edmunds.   Monthly community meals began back in 2018, but it was over the summer that the couple were formally commissioned into their new role as church leaders.

Environment Secretary speech on gene-editing consultation: Oxford Farming Conference 2021

7 January 2020 (Transcript of the speech, exactly as it was delivered) It is a real pleasure to be able to address this year’s virtual Oxford Farming Conference – obviously the 75th such conference so an important milestone. The new national lockdown restrictions, which have been announced in recent days are a reminder that we are far from out of the woods as we fight the coronavirus pandemic. Our key workers in the NHS will be tested in the coming weeks. Plants can be larks or night owls just like us says new research -- Science & Technology -- Sott net

Fri, 18 Dec 2020 21:37 UTC Plants have the same variation in body clocks as that found in humans, according to new research that explores the genes governing circadian rhythms in plants. © Earlham Institute The research shows a single letter change in their DNA code can potentially decide whether a plant is a lark or a night owl. The findings may help farmers and crop breeders to select plants with clocks that are best suited to their location, helping to boost yield and even the ability to withstand climate change. The circadian clock is the molecular metronome which guides organisms through day and night - cockadoodledooing the arrival of morning and drawing the curtains closed at night. In plants, it regulates a wide range of processes, from priming photosynthesis at dawn through to regulating flowering time.
