Police investigate after two found dead inside South Georgia home

The Kingsland Police Department is investigating after two people were found dead inside their home during a welfare check on Sunday. Police say they responded to a home on Briarwood Circle on Sunday around 3:56 p.m. The caller told police that they hadn t heard from the residents since October of 2020.  Upon arrival to the residence, officers say they forced entry and located the two residents, ages 80 and 66, inside the home dead. Based on the evidence, police say at this time it does not appear foul play was involved. The Kingsland Police Department along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations is conducting an active investigation to determine the cause of death.

Investigators have identified the victim as an African American female from the metro Atlanta area and are withholding her name until family members are notified. Officers said they received a call after a person visiting the cemetery off Highfalls Park Road across from Unionville Church in Lamar County came across the body around 2:30 p.m. We had a family here that was visiting with their family in the graveyard and they saw the body and then they immediately backed up and called 911, a Lamar County Officer told WGXA.
