Credit: Gina Williams Author: KARE 11 Staff Updated: 5:20 PM CDT May 13, 2021 Prosecutors say Elsa Segura, 29, of Fridley, and her former boyfriend, Lyndon Wiggins, 36, of Minneapolis, have been indicted by a Hennepin County Grand Jury for their part in the 2019 New Year s Eve kidnapping and murder of 28-year-old real estate agent, Monique Baugh, and the attempted murder of her boyfriend. Prosecutors say Segura made phone calls that lured Baugh to a house showing in Maple Grove, where Baugh was allegedly abducted on Dec. 31, 2019 before she was found shot in a Minneapolis alley. Baugh died a short time later.

Reviewed by GRAHAM McDONALD THE story so far… This concert was originally planned to open the new performance space at the revamped Belco Arts (previously known as the Belconnen Arts centre) in May last year. The idea for program was to commission a number of First Nations composers to set words, compiled by poet Melinda Smith from various Parliamentary speeches, for performance by the Griffyns. The plague put a stop to that and in September a live version was streamed with pre-recorded videos of five of the commissioned works interspersed with interviews and commentary from the composers and performers.

Artsday / Women to shine in music festival

Sophie Edwards, founder of “She’s On The Bill”. “CANBERRA Women In Music” is a new three-day festival with a line-up of 11 bands across three venues showcasing the music, event management and technical skills of women in Canberra, with all proceeds going to charity. First up, and to launch the project is “She’s On The Bill”, young professionals Sophie Edwards, Kirrah Amosa, Lucy Sugerman, Kim Yang and Dana Hassall, 7-11pm, Friday, March 12 at ANU Kambri. THEN on Saturday, March 13, 11 local acts will perform at The Polo, 38 David Street, Turner, from midday until midnight in three shows for three charities. The night time show, “Women Who Rock For Karinya House” starts at 8.30pm with MC Jen Seyderhelm. The festival also has “Soulful Sunday” at Sideway on Sunday, March 14. All details here.

Gov. Mike DeWine’s curfew will prevent bars and restaurants from keeping their doors open during the pandemic so businesses like Tano Bistro are improvising. Tano Bistro, which has locations in Hamilton and Loveland, is like a lot of other small business that has had to get creative to keep things rolling this year.
