The Getty Center museum, one of the top art museums in the US and one of the iconic visitor destinations in Los Angeles, reopened Tuesday at limited capacity after being closed for more than a year amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Getty Center closed its doors last year. After a long wait, visitors are finally welcome back to a host of brand-new exhibitions that have been worth the wait. One is
. A plump French bergère by the great eighteenth-century furniture maker Georges Jacob is the focus of the exhibition. The seat is a great example of the neoclassical era’s attention to the combination of comfort and style. The meticulously crafted chair has managed to survive almost unaltered for 250 years. The Getty Center reopened on May 25, and visitors must reserve a ticket here.

Mario Giacomelli (1925-2000) lived his entire life in the Italian coastal town of Senigallia, in the Marche region along the Adriatic Sea. He opened a print shop in 1950, bought a camera in 1953 and then a second camera a Kobell with a Voigtländer lens a couple of years after that. The print shop kept him occupied six days a week, but Sundays were for taking pictures. Despite these apparent limitations (he was also self-taught) his photographs eventually reached an international audience.
The sprawling Getty Center museum campus in Brentwood will reopen at limited capacity Tuesday, one month after its sister Getty Villa complex in Pacific.
