Wildfire prompts evacuation alert near Dawson City, Yukon
An evacuation alert has been issued for some properties east of Dawson City, Yukon including the local airport because of a nearby wildfire.

The 6,000-hectare Coal Creek wildfire was burning about 5.5 kilometres from the North Klondike Highway, east of Dawson City, on Tuesday.(Yukon Protective Services)
Thanks to the damp weather, the status quo reigns on the Yukon wildfire front.
“Most of the big fires have seen some rain today so we expect reduced fire activity through the end of this week, until the
weekend’s forecasted clearer, hotter weather,” Julia Duchesne, a Yukon Wildland Fire Management spokesperson, said Thursday.
“For the Tuchitua fire (WL-007), the (Robert Campbell) highway is still open with traffic control in place, and crews are continuing to
work on the fire.
“The Lake Laberge fire (XY-007) took some light rain yesterday and we’re expecting it to remain quiet with minimal growth for the next day or two.”
