AUBURN â The DeKalb Chamber Partnership, in cooperation with the Community Foundation of DeKalb County, has announced 14 DeKalb County leaders to be the second annual cohort for DeKalb LEADS, a competitive leadership development program started in fall of 2020.
DeKalb LEADS aims to cultivate leaders that are well-informed, well-rounded, and engaged through training, networking, and real-world experience. This premier leadership opportunity will drive positive change and civic engagement in DeKalb County, the chamber said. The nine-month program equips participants to lead, engage, activate, develop and serve (LEADS) the community.
The program exposes emerging and existing community leaders to the issues that face the region while challenging and engaging participants to strengthen the community through service and leadership. Woman Arrested After Dispute Leads To Shooting
A man was shot following a fight with another male in downtown Shreveport Friday night. On February 12, 2021, just before 9:30 p.m., Shreveport Police responded to the 400 block of Spring Street to a shooting. Officers located an adult male identified as, James Giles, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Giles was transported to Ochsner LSU Health with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Officers also detained multiple individuals who were also present on-scene.
Investigators were summoned to the location. After speaking with witnesses, investigators learned that Giles had engaged in a fight with another male when the male dropped a firearm during the fight. A woman identified as, Jessica Griffith, who was with the male, picked up the firearm while Giles and the other male were fighting and shot Giles in the abdomen. Investigators interviewed Griffith. Following an interview with detectives, Griffith was charged

SHREVEPORT, La. - Jessica Griffith, 34, was arrested in connection to the shooting that happened in downtown Shreveport Friday night.Â
SPD says the incident started with an argument between two men and two women but escalated into a fight between the two men.
Griffith, who police said was the girlfriend of one of the men, is accused of shooting a man who was fighting her boyfriend. She was charged with one count of aggravated second-degree battery and booked into Shreveport City Jail.Â
The victim, who s been identified as James Giles, was transported to Ochsner LSU Health with non-life-threatening injuries.
SPD confirmed that 29-year-old Jordan Jameson of Longview was not the shooter.Â
