GREENOCK Burns Club will be forced to break with annual tradition tonight by toasting the bard online with a virtual celebration. The Mother Club, formed in 1801, will mark Robert Burns birthday by screening the event on YouTube, in keeping with Covid restrictions. This will be the historic club s 219th Burns night and officials have put together a package of poetry, music and song which people can enjoy with a dram in the comfort of their own homes. President Christine Currie said: Obviously it would be much nicer to have a hundreds of people, having a great time and chatting to one another, making new friends and catching up with old ones.
