At dawn on Monday 3rd May, #TheEUandMe Roadshow and Pop-Up Photo Exhibition bus set off from Freetown on a one week journey of discovery around the country, to visit a selection of EU supported projects and to gather testimonials from the communities who have first-hand experience of their impact.
But also to share information with the public on the EU s work in Sierra Leone during the EU’s first ever national Pop-Up Photo Exhibition in Sierra Leone.
#TheEUandMe Road Show and Pop Up Photo Exhibition is organised by the EU in Sierra Leone to mark Europe Week 2021 in partnership with the Embassy of Ireland and Germany.

J.M. Wickramarachchi & Company will work with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka (AHK Sri Lanka) to provide a comprehensive and practice-oriented training course on Optometrist (NVQ Level 3) and Optometrist (NVQ Level 5). The first batch of 30 students from various parts of the country including Northern and Eastern Provinces will commence their training in the coming months.
In Sri Lanka, traditional optometry is heavily focused on theory and requires the implementation of more practical components and practices similar to the German dual system. The position of Regional Coordinator is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. As such fluency in German is essential.
The Regional Coordinator has two main tasks, namely: to manage the office representatives in Durban, Cape Town, Maputo and Lusaka; and the responsibility of ensuring sufficient networks, presence and market knowledge within the region to fulfil the German Chamber’s overall mandate.
The Regional Coordinator works closely with the Office managers and the industry-specific Competence Centres of the Chamber to develop and implement the Chamber’s regional approach and corresponding activities.
