A PAEDOPHILE “stole a girl’s childhood” after having sex with her when she was under 16, a court was told. Jamie Parker has been jailed for four years for sexual activity with a child almost a decade ago. The 35-year-old, of Sturrocks, Basildon, admitted one charge relating to the offence on October 28, 2011. The offence came to light when it was reported many years later. He was jailed at Basildon Crown Court yesterday. The incident took place in south Essex. The court heard that Parker “took advantage” of the victim before the sexual activity took place. Lambasting him in the dock, Recorder Claire Davies told Parker: “It is right she had mental health difficulties at the time.

Trial of dining out vouchers
The scheme will give hospitality venues a boost in the quieter post-Christmas period.

Before launching to the whole state, a trial will be conducted by businesses in The Rocks in Sydney and Broken Hill in outback NSW.
The program gives four vouchers, worth a total of $100, to every adult in NSW to spend on dining and entertainment, which includes cinemas, theme parks, museums and most recreational activities.
Later this month, the trial will be extended to areas including the Sydney CBD, northern beaches and the Bega Valley before rolling out to the entire state in March.
