Solve climate by 2030: green recovery, climate solutions, and a just transition
The world’s top climate scientists have told us we have a ten-year window to make rapid reductions in the carbon pollution causing global warming in order to hold the warming to the low end of under 3° F. Meanwhile, clean energy solutions have gotten less expensive, and in many markets, these solutions now cost less than fossil fuel alternatives. Focusing state and local action around climate solutions could open the road to “solve climate” over the next decade.
The Wisconsin Energy Institute is joining Center for Environmental Policy at Bard College in holding a simultaneous “global dialog” webinars around the world gathering experts together to offer concrete local actions to address climate change. The recording of this event can then be used by high school and college teachers across the state and country to #MakeClimateAClass and continue the conversation.

MADISON, Wis. – For students, memories of big moments in history often take place in the classroom.
In his 11
th year at James Madison Memorial High School, social studies teacher David Olson watched the violence at the U.S. Capitol play out with his students in mind.
“I couldn’t not watch and think of my role as a teacher,” Olson said. “I teach AP U.S. government, politics. This is what I teach. Watching this, my mind kept thinking of, what are the things I need to help students understand? Where are the places students I know are going to have questions?”

Ideally, the person you want in an emergency preparedness safety manager position in a hospital system during a deadly pandemic is someone with ICU experience, who is an expert in infection prevention, who understands disease prevention and control, who has a deep knowledge of public health and who knows how to communicate effectively. Nathan Bubenzer checks every single box. He has seven years of ICU nursing experience, spent two and a half years as an infection preventionist, has a master’s degree in public health and was in the publishing industry in his first career.
