Well, I think I speak for many Dolphins fans in saying that we wanted Miami to take Javonte Williams with the #36 pick. But the Falcons once again stuck it to the Dolphins and traded out of the #35 pick, sending it to the Broncos. Surprisingly, Denver took a running back though they have Melvin Gordon. Maybe that’s not that surprising if you really think about it. You need two RBs in today’s league.
That left the Dolphins to make their selection.
After having to sit through the entire opening round of the NFL draft without being taken, Canadian Jevon Holland didn t have to wait long to hear his name called Friday night. The Miami Dolphins . . .
Dolphins add safety Holland, tackle Eichenberg in 2nd round
MIAMI (AP) The biggest knock so far on Miami Dolphins second-round draft choice Jevon Holland is that he won t help their running game.
The Dolphins took Holland, a safety from Oregon, with the 36th overall pick Friday after the Denver Broncos leapfrogged them to draft a running back. The Dolphins needed a ball carrier, but Denver moved one spot ahead of them by trading up and selected North Carolina s Javonte Williams.
Miami then chose Holland. Williams was the third running back taken, and the Dolphins were shut out in their pursuit of a top-tier ball carrier for the second draft in a row despite a strong need.

2021 NFL Draft: Day 2 Winners and Losers [Cowboys, Browns, Texans, Rams] | CBS Sports HQ
CLEVELAND (AP) Not much changed on the second night of the NFL draft. Do the letters SEC and QB seem familiar?
The SEC remained the conference of choice with 29 players selected overall, including 17 on Friday night.
Quarterbacks went in clusters, too. Not like 1-2-3 as happened in the opening round with Clemson s Trevor Lawrence to Jacksonville, BYU s Zach Wilson to the New York Jets, and North Dakota State s Trey Lance to San Francisco.
Still, the second round concluded with Florida s Kyle Trask going to Tampa Bay perhaps as the heir to Tom Brady in a decade or so. Then Texas A&M s Kellen Mond was chosen in the second spot of the third round by Minnesota and Stanford s Davis Mills went in the next slot to Houston.
