2nd arrest made after killing of Burnsville man in Inver Grove Heights The 39-year-old victim was involved in a drug deal, according to a criminal complaint. Author: Credit: Inver Grove Heights Police Department A second person has been arrested following the killing of a man in Inver Grove Heights.  The south metro suburb s police department announced Tuesday that a 31-year-old Minneapolis man has been booked into the Dakota County Jail as a person of interest in relation to the homicide of Bryant Lutgens.   Lutgens, a 39-year-old Burnsville man, was found dead in a snowbank Feb. 1 on the 1300 block of 60th Street West, which runs just east of Interstate 494. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner s Office confirmed that Lutgens was fatally shot in the head. 

Bar Buzz: Abrams elected to national board

Dakota County District Court Judge Jerome Abrams has been elected state representative on the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), the state’s Judicial Branch announced on Feb. 2. Abrams, who serves in the state’s 1st Judicial District, was elected by members of the group’s Minnesota chapter. “I am honored to have been elected by my colleagues and very pleased to represent the distinguished trial lawyers of Minnesota,” Judge Abrams said in a press release. “The mission of ABOTA is critical,” he added, “and helps promote trust and confidence in the justice system, so as a judge I am especially pleased to help carry out that mission.”

Author: Dakota County Jail A Bloomington man looking to buy drugs shot another man in the head, leaving him in a snowbank in Inver Grove Heights and taking off with his belongings, charges say.  Gabriel Alfonso Sanchez Cruz, 42, of Bloomington, is charged in Dakota County District Court with second-degree murder in the death of 39-year-old Bryant Lutgens of Burnsville. Lutgens was found dead in a snowbank on the 1300 block of 60th Street West in Inver Grove Heights at about 8 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 1, police said. He d been shot in the head. 

MDH files lawsuit against Alibi Drinkery in Lakeville

Updated: 11:27 AM CST January 23, 2021 After weeks of controversy and court action, Alibi Drinkery in Lakeville now faces a lawsuit from the Minnesota Department of Health for operating without a license.  MDH filed the lawsuit Jan. 22 in district court, it said in a Saturday press release. The department said it notified Alibi Drinkery on Dec. 22 that its license to operate as a food and beverage service establishment would be suspended after 20 days. Additionally, MDH said that license expired on Dec. 31, 2020.  Despite its lack of license, MDH said the bar kept operating in violation of Minn. Stat. § 157.16.  On its own Facebook page, Alibi Drinkery repeatedly advertised that it was open and operating. Happy hour is back at Alibi! it posted on Jan. 19. Not kidding! Monday thru Friday 11am to 1pm and Sunday thru Thursday 8pm to 10pm.  $1 off all drinks and beers!
