Attempted murder charges of a first responder and with the use of a deadly weapon have been filed against Nicholas Berreman in connection with the 11:15 p.m. shooting that injured Sgt. John Lenz. On Monday, Sheriff Dan Coverley said Lenz will recover from the injury to his cheek from the shooting. “I am grateful for the successful recovery of Sgt. Lenz and we look forward to bringing him home to the community in which he proudly serves,” he said.

Police announce new Special Victims Unit to tackle physical abuse, sex crimes and crimes against children LKPD says it has focused on the development of the SVU for over a year. It says the addition is part of the department’s commitment to a survivor-focused philosophy. The primary focus of the SVU will be cases involving physical abuse such as crimes against children, crimes of a sexual nature, and those involving domestic violence. The LKPD says it will incorporate trauma-informed best practices that leverage its continued partnership with the Willow Victim Advocate, the incoming Douglas County District Attorney and other community stakeholders.

Douglas County DA gets dismissal of OSHA violations surrounding Trump visit

Submitted by paula on Wed, 12/16/2020 - 7:25pm DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - Two citations issued by the state after President Trump s September 12, 2020 visit have been dismissed. They were both issued following his visit at the Minden-Tahoe Airport since the visit was during Governor Sisolak s emergency order that prohibited public gatherings of more than 50 people. The State of Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Nevada OSHA) has agreed to dismiss the two citations after they were formerly contested by the Douglas County District Attorney who represented both parties charge, the County and ABS Aviation, Inc. Following a month long investigation, Nevada OSHA issued the citations on October 23, 2020. They were categorized by the state as serious violations with penalties in the amount of $2,950 against the County and $2,603 against the airport operator.
