ITHACA, NY The Tompkins County Health Department announced six more deaths of Oak Hill Manor Nursing Home residents from COVID-19, bringing the total to 11 since the end of November.
These newly announced deaths were reported to the Health Department by Oak Hill on Dec. 21. Once a positive COVID-19 case is identified in a skilled nursing or long-term care facility, the New York State Department of Health manages contact investigations and testing. The deaths occurred between the dates of December 12 and December 21.
The facility has been dealing with an outbreak for the past month or so that began with 39Â residents and 13 staff members testing positive for the disease at the end of November.

The Tompkins County Health Department reports the deaths happened between December 12th and 21st. New York State’s Health Department is leading contact investigations and testing. Public Health Director Frank Kruppa calls the deaths “heartbreaking,” adding “we continue to see those at highest risk having the most adverse outcomes from COVID-19.”
With Christmas only days away, Kruppa’s once again strongly discouraging all non-essential gatherings and travel, and is encouraging the continued wearing of face masks, staying six feet apart, and monitoring yourself closely for symptoms.

ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) A person who’s tested positive for COVID-19 was at the Triphammer Laundromat, and may have infected others.
The Tompkins County Health Department says the individual was at the laundromat on North Triphammer Road for an hour on December 16th, starting at 11 a.m.
If you were there at the same time, you’re advised to schedule a test for COVID-19 at either the Cayuga Health mass sampling site located in the parking lot at the Shops at Ithaca Mall or the saliva sampling site at 412 North Tioga Street, downtown Ithaca. Tags:

The Tompkins County Health Department says the person worked Friday, December 11th from 8:30 to 3:30. They’re in isolation now and close contacts are being quarantined. If you were at the store on the 11th, you may have been exposed to the virus and should schedule a COVID-19 test. Tags:
