Russia s COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik Light could be India s first single dose vaccine, sources told NDTV.
Dr Reddy s Labs, government and the regulator are in talks for the rollout in June, said sources.
Dr Reddy s Laboratories on Thursday announced that the first consignment of imported doses of the Sputnik V vaccine that landed in India on May 1 received regulatory clearance from the Central Drugs Laboratory, Kasauli, on May 13.
As part of a limited pilot, the soft launch of the vaccine has commenced and the first dose of the vaccine was administered in Hyderabad on Thursday.

Hyderabad: In a major relief to states facing acute shortage of vaccines, the Centre has hinted at allowing import of vaccines approved by WHO directly by the states. In this context, Telangana would invite global tenders to procure vaccines while Andhra Pradesh has already called for quotations.

Hyderabad: Supplies of Covid-19 vaccines will only start meeting demand across the country by late July or early August and till then, it is going to be a challenge, Telangana Industry and Information Technology Minister K.T. Rama Rao said on Thursday.
The minister, who heads the state task force on procurement of vaccines and medicines, said the state was working on getting increased supplies of vaccines from the Centre and was also simultaneously engaged in discussions with vaccine manufacturers.

The Andhra Pradesh government has floated a global tender for procurement of Covid-19 vaccines with the last date for filing bids fixed as June 3.
A pre-bid meet will be convened on either May 20 or May 22.
The Principal secretary Medical and Health Anil Kumar Singhal said, “Based on the bids, we will finalise the procurement size.”
The State has estimated that over 2.04 crore individuals in the 18-45 age group will need to be vaccinated for free against Covid-19 and has also earmarked necessary funds.
